Weddings

Your Wedding is a very special occasion, the beginning of a journey as husband and wife.  Your wedding is a chance to be with all of your friends and family, to share your moment, and where better than in the setting of a traditional church building with the church organ, choir, the stain glass windows and God overseeing proceedings.

Booking

The first thing to do is to contact the Vicar Ian Brown or the parish administrator Sue Jones to arrange a convenient time when Ian can meet you both; often during office hours on Tuesday evenings 6:30 - 7:30pm in All Saints Parish Hall. At this introduction Ian will arrange a date for your wedding with you, explain the Wedding Ceremony and answer any questions you may have. Church Wedding Services can be held at All Saints Church, Frindsbury or St.Philip & St. James Church, Upnor.

Banns of Marriage

A public announcement of your plans to marry are given on three Sundays in the Church in the parish(es) where you live and at the Church you intend to get married in. It is not a legal requirement to be present at the readings of these Banns but we would love you to be there when we read them at All Saints or St.Philip & St.James Church.

Meeting the Vicar again and the Rehearsal

After the initial meeting, Ian will arrange to meet with you again, usually twice more, to finalise the details of the service, to discuss the meaning of Christian marriage and the vows and promises that you will make on your wedding day. These meetings are for all couples to be married and usually take place in the spring. The rehearsal is to iron out any last minute issues and to ensure that you are completely at ease with the arrangements.

The bad news

Now that’s out of the way, let’s continue:

Music

We are happy to advise you about the music, help you choose hymns and songs, and we can arrange an organist for you to play for the wedding.

Flowers

The church is regularly decorated with arrangements of flowers. You may wish to arrange for additional flowers. Please bring this up when you meet with Ian.

Confetti

Confetti, in small amounts, is encouraged! but you may be better advised to save it for the reception venue.

Photography and Video

Naturally you will want to record every detail of your wedding, but flash photography is very distracting and unofficial video can lead to all sorts of copyright issues.

So its best to leave this to the professionals. Ian will discuss with your photographer when and where he can take photographs and use a video camera ( if required ). Friends and relatives are politely asked to wait until the end of the service to take pictures and videos of the happy couple.
