After 10 years in charge, Anne Maillardet is stepping down from
leading the Adventurers Group ( Sunday School ) to concentrate on
other areas and activities in the church. Anne's interest is
children's activities and crafts and she views her evangelist role
best utilised working with children. Examples of her church work outside of
Sunday school are craft afternoons, an exhibition of crosses around
the world and alternative halloween events. This year she
organised 'No tricks Just Treats', where a team of helpers posted
small bags of sweets through letterboxes with a note 'God loves
you', last year she ran a Narnia Party to give the kids an
alternative to knocking on doors asking for sweets. Anne also
ran Holiday club this year with the theme 'beach party'.

Anne is a full time teacher at a Church of England School and so she
is eminently qualified in teaching young children about the christian faith
and the love of God. She has done a fantastic job over many years. I
have lost count of the number of cardboard boxes, clay pots, flags and
pictures that we have made with the children over the years. The children
are encouraged in Drama and Singing Songs (with Anne showing the children
the actions) and Anne always seems to have an endless supply of new games
for the children to play. I have found especially moving Anne's alternative
'Rememberence Sunday' sessions where she lights a candle, prays and holds a
two minutes silence whilst pictures are projected on to the parish hall
wall. Anne will be a difficult act to follow but we wish her well in her new
adventures.
